What you would be holding open

Fair Care exists for a gap almost nobody covers. Not the treatment itself, which other people do properly, but the time around it: the weeks or months between deciding you need help and actually being seen, the stretch inside a system that moves slowly, and the part after treatment stops, which is where people are most often lost.

Right now that is 130 care packs across 4 stages, plus guides researched against real clinic documents. Panic. Grief. Sleep that will not come. Waiting for test results. The first weeks on a medication. The appointment that went badly and the temptation to quietly stop going.

Everybody gets all of it, at no cost, whether or not anyone supports this. That is the point, and it is also why it needs supporters.

What support actually pays for

• •Keeping the site free and account-free. No ads, no data sold, nothing to sign up for. That is a running cost, not a one-off.
• •The next packs. There are gaps still open, and each one is weeks of research and writing before a word of it is any use to anybody.
• •The printed versions, so a pack works at 3am on a dead battery, in a waiting room, or for somebody who should not be reading a screen at all.
• •Getting them into clinic waiting rooms, where the people who need them are already sitting.

Supporting is not buying access

Nothing on the free shelf ever moves behind a payment. Not one pack, not one PDF, and never a crisis number. The people this is built for are frequently the least able to pay for anything, and a version of Fair Care that charged them would not be worth running.

There is no paid tier to unlock, because there is no paid tier. Supporting buys you nothing that anybody else is denied. It is patronage, and the whole point of it is that the person who cannot pay gets exactly what you get.

A quarter goes onward

Twenty-five percent of revenue after direct costs is pledged onward, to veterans' mental health and to people who cannot afford care. It is posted publicly, monthly, in the Open Ledger.

Nothing has gone onward yet, because nothing has come in yet. The ledger says so plainly, and it will keep saying so until it is no longer true.
